How Cancellations Work for Hosts

Edited

Cancellations are a part of the travel world — but don’t worry, the Luggage Drop platform is designed to keep Hosts protected and informed. Here's how cancellations affect you, and what to expect when one happens.

🛑 Traveler-Initiated Cancellations

Travelers can cancel their booking up to 24 hours before their check-in time for a full refund.

If they cancel more than 24 hours in advance:

  • The space is released back into your availability

  • You will not receive a payout for the canceled reservation

  • You’ll be notified immediately in your Host Dashboard and by email

If they cancel within 24 hours of their booking:

  • The reservation becomes non-refundable to the Traveler

  • The booking stays in your dashboard but is marked as canceled/no-show

🚫 No-Shows

If a Traveler doesn’t check in and doesn’t cancel, the booking is treated as a no-show.

  • The reservation is closed out at the end of the scheduled check-out time

  • You do not need to take action, but you can mark it as a no-show if you'd like to keep your dashboard tidy.

📦 Partial Cancellations or Modifications

If a Traveler needs to change their number of bags during the 24-hour lockout window, they can do so at check-in, and the system will adjust pricing accordingly.

You don’t need to modify the reservation manually — the system handles it when the bags are scanned and counted during the check-in flow.

💬 Host-Initiated Cancellations

Hosts should avoid canceling accepted bookings unless absolutely necessary. If you need to cancel due to emergency, staff shortage, or unexpected closure:

  1. Notify A Luggage Drop Partner Success Manager immediately through your Host Dashboard

  2. We will assist in relocating the Traveler to another Drop Spot nearby

  3. Repeated cancellations may impact your visibility or standing on the platform

🧠 Pro Tip

Most cancellations happen due to schedule changes or travel delays. Even if a Traveler doesn’t show, their booking helps you earn and may still bring foot traffic to your business.

Offering reliable service during busy travel seasons builds trust, positive reviews, and repeat business.
