Security Best Practices for Storing Luggage

Providing secure, reliable storage is what makes a great Drop Spot. Here’s how to keep everything (and everyone) protected, from check-in to check-out.

1. Use a Non-Public Storage Area

Always store bags in a space that:

• Is not accessible to the public or walk-in customers

• Has limited access (back room, locked closet, staff-only area)

• Is clean, dry, and free from anything liquid, hazardous or flammable,

Pro Tip: Never leave bags out in customer-facing areas like dining rooms or sales floors.

2. Double Check Bookings (Digitally)

Only accept bags from Travelers with:

• A valid QR code or secure PIN

• A matching name and reservation in your Host Dashboard

If someone can’t provide either, politely direct them to book online or contact support.

3. Tag Every Bag

Before placing any bag into storage:

• Attach a tag (physical or digital) with the Traveler’s name or booking ID

• Confirm the bag count matches the reservation

• Double-check for any damage, leaks, or suspicious content

If something feels off, do not accept the bag and report the issue to HQ.

4. Keep Bags Separated & Documented

• Avoid stacking bags unless space requires it

• Separate bags by day or by Traveler whenever possible

• Take photos or make notes if anything seems unusual

This protects you in case of confusion or disputes later on.

5. Never Accept Bags Without a Reservation

For insurance and liability reasons:

• Only store bags that are part of a verified Luggage Drop booking

• Do not take bags in exchange for cash or “walk-in” drop-offs

• Bags stored outside the platform are not protected by DropGuard and are your sole responsibility

Violating this policy may result in suspension or removal from the platform.

6. Report Issues Promptly

Use the “Report a Problem” feature in your Host Dashboard if:

• You spot suspicious items

• A Traveler refuses to show a QR code or PIN

• A bag is left behind or damaged
