Check-ins and check-outs are fast, secure, and fully trackable.
Every Bag Drop reservation includes a unique QR code or secure PIN. This ensures only verified bookings are accepted—and that both the Traveler and Host are protected under Luggage Drop’s system.
Step-by-Step: Traveler Check-In
-
Greet the Traveler
- Ask for their QR code or PIN
- You can also look them up by name in your Host Portal
-
Scan the QR code or enter the PIN
- Locate the Purple Check-in/Out Button in the dashboard menu bar, or at the bottom of the screen on your mobile device.
- Use your device’s camera to scan the travelers QR Code
-
(Alternate) Use the Booking Pin Code
- If you have trouble scanning the QR Code, you can Click "Use Pin Code" below the scanner window to manually enter the booking pin, or use a handheld barcode scanner
-
Confirm the bag count
- Ask the Traveler how many bags they’re dropping
- If the number is different from their reservation, you should request the travelers create an additional booking for the additional bags, Remember all bags of any size must be included on the reservation to be covered by our Drop Guard coverage. Storing bags that are not accounted for, may place liability on your company for those items.
- If the bag count is correct, simply click "Confirm Check-in"
-
Tag each bag
- Use the provided drop tags and label with booking number or traveler name
- All bags must be individually tagged
-
Store bags securely
- Place in a non-public, secure storage area
- Ensure bags are sealed, not leaking, and safe for storage
⚠️ Reminder: Only accept bags that are part of a confirmed Luggage Drop reservation.
Bags not listed on the reservation—or not added during check-in—are not covered by DropGuard and become the full responsibility of the Host.
Accepting unbooked bags, cash drop-offs, or items stored outside the platform may result in account suspension or removal.
Step-by-Step: Traveler Check-Out
-
Ask for the QR code or PIN again
- Confirm the Traveler’s identity
-
Locate and return the tagged bags
- Double-check that tag info matches the reservation
-
Mark the reservation as “Checked-Out” in your Host Portal
- Follow the same steps used during Check-In to scan the travelers QR Code or enter their booking pin code to confirmed the items were return successfully and no further charges should be incurred.
- Items not checked-out will accumulate charges for the traveler until the booking is completed in the system, so please always ensure all bookings are Checked-Out via the dashboard before the end of the day.
- Hosts will not be paid for bookings until the are "Checked-Out"
- This confirms handoff and triggers payout tracking
Best Practices for Hosts
- Only accept bags with a confirmed booking and valid QR or PIN
- Never release a bag without verification
- Don’t hold or store extra items “off the books”
- Contact support immediately if anything feels unusual
- Always tag and track each item—you’re protecting yourself and the Traveler
